Overview
A suite of mobile apps that can be customised to the specific brands' look and feel. Slug and Lettuce was the first brand, followed by Be At One and Crafted Social, and then will be rolling out across more of Stonegate’s portfolio.
The functionality of the app includes; order and pay, a customisable home screen, booking, vouchers, instant win games and a venue finder.
Tools
Figma — Design
Miro — Research, Planning, User flows
UserZoom — User testing
After Effects + Lottie — Animation
Zeplin — Engineer handover
Process
The process started with consulting with the client and key stakeholders to understand the necessary requirements and functionality.
Working from this I mapped out user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity designs.
As the app would need to be adapted to match multiple brands, I created a style guide that could be easily switched to another brand without much work from the client.
I conducted a number of unmoderated user tests to make sure that the users were able to navigate the app without any friction.
A few small animations were added to give the user some feedback and to bring the experience to life.
I used Zeplin to hand over the designs to the engineering team and conducted design QA as part of each task in the sprint.
An MVP was released first, but then we added extra features and rolled out the other branded versions.
User Flow
A portion of the user flow. It went through a number of iterations and reviews, depending on client feedback, and technical restraints.
Wireframes
Wireframes then followed, building on from the user flow.
UI Design
As it was required for the app to be easily themed to the desired brand. I created a style guide that could have the colours and fonts adapted easily. It had to be limited for ease of use both technically and from the admin's perspective. Unfortunately, since we cannot control the colours that are chosen, it could cause accessibility issues.
Be At One and Crafted Social
Summary
Feedback has been positive from the client and users of the apps.
The project could have been improved by including user research at the start of the project as well as ongoing moderated user testing, although due to time restraints, this was not possible.
