Vagabond Wines

Wine Subscription — Native App

Overview
Adding a new wine subscription service to the Vagabond App. The client was launching a service for customers to discover and receive customised wines. By answering a number of questions, wines would be suggested to meet the customer’s tastes. The customer could then read information about each wine, and make changes to the suggestions. Additionally, being able to rate and purchase wines.

Process
Working with the client to understand their goals and expectations, we started with some existing product research, and then based on the technical specification created, I produced user flows, followed by wireframes, prototypes, and finally the interface designs. At each stage I worked closely with the client, making updates to meet their requirements or suggesting improvements to the experience.
The client conducted their own user testing and the feedback was positive.
Once designs were finalised and signed off, I handed them off to the development team and then conducted quality assurance in order to make sure everything was consistent with the designs.

UI Design
From the App’s home screen, a new Wine Subscription tab slides in from the right in order to attract the customer's attention, without compromising the experience of the rest of the app.
If the customer is new to the subscription they would see a Subscriptions details screen, or if they already have a subscription they would see a screen that allowed them to view different options related to their account.
Customers would be taken through a number of questions in order to then suggest a selection of wines. They could remove any wine they don't want and browse the menu to add other wines.
The customer could then rate their wines, and based on their ratings, the next batch would be customised to their taste.
Summary
Working through this project was enjoyable, even if we had tight deadlines. We did not have the opportunity to conduct user testing to test that the assumptions made were in the end user’s best interests.
Although from the client's feedback, it seems like it was a successful addition to their app.
